Things never happen on accident, they happen because you have a vision you have a commitment, you have a dream. Unknown

A DREAM is never respected until it grows into REALITY. Terry Mark

Each person has an ideal, a hope, a dream which represents the soul. We must give to it the warmth of love, the light of understanding and the essence of encouragement. Unknown

Losing Something or Someone

A lost opportunity; forgetting something which is important. Depending on dream might also suggest actual, or feelings about, loss of virginity; loss of health; losing a lover-partner, or whatever the lost thing depicts. If one dreams often about losing things, like handbag, car, children, it could show that the dreamer is deeply uncertain about themselves.

In other words they are feeling a loss of identity, wondering where they are going in life, who they are in the present situation, or what value they have. Often such feelings often come about from losing contact with your deep feelings and passions. Without them we may feel we have no rudder, no place to head for. See: lost; lost husband under family and relationships.

A dream of loss might also indicate being frightened of losing the control they thought they had over their life and the world. Such dreams are often about meeting some massive apparent threat, such a huge wave or creature. The dreams sometimes have great fear in them. Some dreams about losing control are about sexual relationships and how much control you have…

Law Of Attraction: How Bad Do You Want It?

Law Of Attraction Quotes

Every single second is an opportunity to change your life, because in any moment you can change the way you feel. Rhonda Byrne

You create your own universe as you go along. Winston Churchill

See the things that you want as already yours. Know that they will come to you at need. Then let them come. Don’t fret and worry about them. Don’t think about your lack of them. Think of them as yours, as belonging to you, as already in your possession. Robert Collier

The Biology of Attraction

In an apocryphal story, a colleague once turned to the great British geneticist J.B.S. Haldane, and said, “Tell me, Mr. Haldane, knowing what you do about nature, what can you tell me about God?” Haldane replied, “He has an inordinate fondness for beetles.” Indeed, the world contains over 300,000 species of beetles. I would add that “God” loves the human mating game, for no other aspect of our behavior is so complex, so subtle, or so pervasive. And although these sexual strategies differ from one individual to the next, the essential choreography of human courtship, love, and marriage has myriad designs that seem etched into the human psyche, the product of time, selection, and evolution. They begin the moment men and women get within courting range—with the way we flirt.

In describing these strategies, I make no effort to be “politically correct.” Nature designed men and women to work together. But I cannot pretend that they are alike. They are not. And I have given evolutionary and biological explanations for their differences where I find them appropriate.

Women from places as different as the jungles of Amazonia, the salons of Paris, and the highlands of New Guinea apparently flirt with the same sequence of expressions.

First the woman smiles at her admirer and lifts her eyebrows in a swift, jerky motion as she opens her eyes wide to gaze at him. Then she drops her eyelids, tilts her head down and to the side, and looks away. Frequently she also covers her face with her hands, giggling nervously as she retreats behind her palms. This sequential flirting gesture is so distinctive that [German ethologist Irenaus] Eibl-Eibesfeldt was convinced it is innate, a human female courtship ploy that evolved eons ago to signal sexual interest.

“If someone decides they’re not going to be happy, it’s not your problem. You don’t have to spend your time and energy trying to cheer up someone who has already decided to stay in a bad mood. Believe it or not, you can actually hurt people by playing into their self-pity.” Joyce Meyer

Sports: What Motivates Athletes?

The Grind

In training and competitions, you arrive at a point at which it is no longer fun. I call this the Grind, which starts when it gets tiring, painful, and tedious. the Grind is also the point at which it really counts. The Grind is what separates successful athletes from those who don’t achieve their goals. Many athletes when they reach this point either ease up or give up because it’s just too darned hard. But truly motivated athletes reach the Grind and keep on going.when it hurts

Many sport psychologists will say that you have to love the Grind. I say that, except for a very few hyper-motivated athletes, love isn’t in the cards because there’s not much to love. But how you respond to the Grind lies along a continuum. As I just mentioned, loving the Grind is rare. At the other end of the continuum is “I hate the Grind.” If you feel this way, you are not likely to stay motivated. I suggest that you neither love nor hate the Grind; you just accept it as part of the deal in striving toward your goals. The Grind may not be very enjoyable, but what does feel good is seeing your hard work pay off with success…

Fear Itself

Q: Isn’t fear what keeps us alive? Do we really want to get rid of it?

A: Fear is not the same thing as caution. We tend to think of the feeling of fear as guiding us in the direction of safety, but it doesn’t. Fear is the alarm. There’s no intelligence in it. In fact, you can’t think at all when an alarm is going off. You have to switch off the alarm to start thinking again. And thinking is what’s going to make you safe.

Q: How do we acquire these fears?

A: Avoidance is a natural instinct. As humans we’re wired to learn, and when we learn about things that hurt us, we try to avoid them. We developed this system of responses a very long time ago in reaction to living in a very hostile environment. But we don’t live there anymore. We’re not out in the woods getting chased by grizzly bears. If we let those same old avoidance patterns govern us, then we don’t get to live like rational, decision-making humans, we live on pure instinct, like animals. You end up focusing on the things you perceive as dangerous, when you should be seeking out what’s most pleasurable or interesting. And ironically, being governed by fear of negative outcomes can make those outcomes more likely. When you have stage fright, for instance, it’s a massive distraction. It makes you more likely to screw up, not less.

When You Don’t Fit In: The Value of Being Different

Being different has tremendous value. Here is how.

1. Being different is a source of connection and belonging.

I find shared experiences when I speak with people who know what it is like to feel different—people with disabilities, migrants, creative people, gay people, introverts, recovering addicts, and many others.

Though we don’t share those particular characteristics, our mutual understanding of what it is like to be different connects us, powerfully.

We know what it is like to be judged because of who we are. We know what it is like to feel like outsiders or freaks. We know what it is like to try and hide our differences to fit in.

But fitting in is the opposite of being yourself. It leaves you sick inside.

What we really crave is to belong. When we are accepted despite or even because of our differences, we have found true belonging.

2. What we have in common easily trumps our differences.

We have empathy built into our brains. Mirror neurons mean that when we hear someone tell a moving story, we feel what they feel.

Heck, Tiny Buddha is built on our ability to care, learn from and identify with the experiences of others!

We all want to be understood. And science has proven what we instinctively know: we are more alike than different.

So, take the risk of hearing and being heard. By telling your story you invite others to understand you, and to understand themselves better, too.

3 Keys to Realizing Your Dreams and Goals

Am I actively moving toward my goals and dreams every day?

Everybody has dreams and most people have goals. If you want your goals and dreams to become reality, you must move toward them consistently and purposefully. By nature, we always begin with distance between where we are and where we want to be. Our job is to narrow that distance until it no longer exists. To accomplish that, we need to draw our goals and dreams closer to us, while simultaneously moving toward them.

Some people attempt to attract their goals without taking much action. Others choose to act on their goals, but without the added advantage of also drawing those goals to them. Action alone can bring positive results, but it is much faster to combine the two techniques.

For the sake of clarity, let’s differentiate between dreams and wishful thinking. In some conversations, the two might be interchangeable. Not so in this case. When I talk about dreams, I am really talking about highly desirable goals, future realities that we fully intend to realize. For our purposes, a dream is something that we are willing to work toward, and are determined to manifest, just like a goal…

No one owes you anything

How could such a simple statement be important? It may not seem so, but understanding it can bless your entire life.

No one owes you anything.

It means that no one else is living for you, my child. Because no one is you. Each person is living for himself; his own happiness is all he can ever personally feel.
When you realize that no one owes you happiness or anything else, you’ll be freed from expecting what isn’t likely to be.

It means no one has to love you. If someone loves you, it’s because there’s something special about you that gives him happiness. Find out what that something special is and try to make it stronger in you, so that you’ll be loved even more.

When people do things for you, it’s because they want to — because you, in some way, give them something meaningful that makes them want to please you, not because anyone owes you anything.

No one has to like you. If your friends want to be with you, it’s not out of duty. Find out what makes others happy so they’ll want to be near you.

No one has to respect you. Some people may even be unkind to you. But once you realize that people don’t have to be good to you, and may not be good to you, you’ll learn to avoid those who would harm you. For you don’t owe them anything either.

They get awarded the best projects and their presentations get praise and standing ovations from the special guests who showed up to hear them. How do they do that?

It’s not fate or a great gene pool. It’s not an accident. It’s not even a lucky star. People who enjoy consistent success know what it takes to make great opportunities happen. Change a few habits and people might be wondering how you get so many opportunities, too…

Want to build your list size? Don’t dive in head first

A friend of mine asked me recently “how do I get my email lists going?”. He knew he needed to get his message out to more people, but wondered how you go about building up your own lists without buying in any data? Not only is this a common question from start-ups and small businesses, but often one asked when clients of ours have established email programs where their list size may be stagnating or even shrinking. I had also just finished reading this excellent article on the same subject over at which inspired some thoughts here.

A great phrase I can borrow (doffing my cap to Tim Watson, Email Consultant, in the process) is don’t fall in to the trap of “FIRE! AIM! READY!” which is often what people do when they realise they need email addresses. That is to say, put together the plan of what you want to try to achieve first before going about implementing any random new scheme to collect addresses.

One of the fine people you’ll find on Word To The Wise, Laura Atkins (one of the people in the email world I respect the most) – says “Have all your emails, templates, offers and processes in place before you collect your first email address.” When doing so, there’s some key things most people don’t do and then regret it. Below you’ll find a list of all the points I chatted to my friend about – some through experience and others I gathered from a variety of sources from around the industry. Hopefully it will get your cogs turning too!
